A comprehensive upgrade is on the cards for Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW), who are currently seeking a partner to update the technology stack for two mobile command centre vehicles.

Detailed in an expression of interest (EOI) document listed on buy NSW, the agency is looking to upgrade the vehicles’ core IT systems infrastructure, such as desktops, communications technology, networking and public announcement systems.

FRNSW is also looking for the provision of ongoing comprehensive support and to future-proof its setup.

Specifically, the agency intends to upgrade its computing hardware, which covers desktop PCs, monitors, mountings, laptop docking stations and peripherals.

It also is looking at replacing its IP PABX system with a solution compatible with Microsoft Teams.

Roof-mounted equipment is also intended to be reviewed and replaced, which includes antennas, P25 repeaters and weatherproof Ethernet ports.

To keep up to date, FRNSW is looking at the supply and installation of weather stations on the centres for real-time environmental data.

A “comprehensive” upgrade is also on the cards, which covers cabling, 4G and 5G connectivity, satellite connectivity, routers, enterprise grade WiFi-6 systems, switches and access points.

Additionally, the agency is also interested in upgrades to its display systems, printing solutions, connectivity solutions and its visual messaging system.

Among these other upgrades, FRNSW is also looking in upgrading its radio communications, video technologies and audio recording capabilities.
