Google Cloud has appointed Paul Migliorini as vice president of Australia and New Zealand, replacing Alister Dias, who departed six months ago for a personal break.
In the lead up to his latest role, Migliorini was previously the CEO of Versent which was acquired by Telstra last year.
Based in Sydney, Migliorini will spearhead the local go-to-market strategy and work closely with customers and partners such as ANZ Bank, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, Macquarie Bank, Australian Pharmaceutical Industries, Woolworth, Ramsay Heath Care, Optus, Telstra, Department of Health and Aged Care, CSIRO, Canva, Culture Amp and Pet Circle.
“With his deep knowledge of the local market, and proven track record in successfully growing cloud businesses, I am confident Paul will help us advance our mission and unlock our next phase of growth in Australia and New Zealand,” Google Cloud Asia Pacific vice president, Karan Bajwa said.
Migliorini comes into the role with more than 25 years experience across Asia, Europe and US, and was also previously the managing director of AWS Australia. Other leadership roles include working for BT, IWG and Ernst & Young.
“AI isn’t just changing the technology sector, it’s changing the world, and I’m excited to join Google Cloud at such a pivotal time,” Migliorini said.
“I look forward to building on the momentum and helping customers and partners capture this moment with the power of Google Cloud’s technology leadership and differentiation, to deliver real world impact with our solutions.”
Google is strengthening Australia’s digital future through major infrastructure and renewable energy projects including subsea cable investments as a part of the Pacific Connect Initiative and through its partnership with AirTrunk and OX2 on a power purchasing agreement to add more renewable energy to Australia’s power grid.
Revenues for Google Cloud were US$10.3 billion for the second quarter of 2024, up 29 per cent year-over-year, and delivering profitability quarter-over-quarter since the first quarter of 2023.
