Fujitsu NZ country manager Rob Purdy has departed and the local business appears to be becoming part of a broader regional operation.

Fujitsu NZ lifted sales in the year to 31 March 2024 but still recorded a second consecutive loss, primarily due to damages awarded to the Department of Corrections after a failed rostering software rollout.

“Rob Purdy has decided to pursue new opportunities,” a Fujitsu spokesperson told Reseller News. “We are grateful for his contributions and the positive impact he has made during his time with us. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Fujitsu said it had taken the opportunity to strengthen its “regional alignment and collaboration” to enhance its effectiveness.

“This includes continuing to support experienced local leaders in New Zealand who are empowered to make prompt decisions and access our full resources across Oceania,” the spokesperson said.

“These leaders will be a part of our broader regional leadership team, working to bring positive outcomes to our customers in New Zealand.”

Asked about rumoured redundancies, the spokesperson said Fujitsu had not announced any plans to make broad changes to its workforce in New Zealand.

“Fujitsu will continue to expand our service offerings, addressing growing demand for solutions and services in core areas including digital experience and sustainability transformation, and cyber security,” the spokesperson said.

Purdy is now contracting to distributor Westcon-Comstor NZ.
