Cyber security service provider Cythera has improved its cyber security stance through the bolstering of its managed detection and response (MDR) play and the earning of its ISO 27001 certification.

The provider, which celebrated its five-year anniversary last year, said it has made major advancements in its automation capabilities, leading to streamlined operations and faster incident response.

“We’ve opened up our automation capabilities to our customers,” said Cythera co-founder and services director Ben Cuthbert. “If we detect a threat, we can now take immediate action, such as disabling an account, containing a machine while we do forensics, or reaching out to firewalls to block IP ranges.”

Cythera claimed its enhanced MDR service provides improved threat detection, faster response times and reduced risk.

In addition to its investment in its MDR capabilities, Cythera has also improved its information security management stance by earning ISO 27001 certification.

The provider decided to earn the certification for a multiple reasons, including meeting customer expectations and internal security goals.

“Our customers demand it and have a low tolerance for security providers and technologies that experience product faults or cyber security breaches,” said Cythera director Craig Joyce.

The provider claimed earning the certification was a company-wide effort, with Cuthbert stating that it put “everything in scope – sales, technology, tools and platforms”.

“We mapped policies and controls to cover the entire scope and then enforced them as a standard, subjecting ourselves to multiple external audits,” he added.
