Cyber security consultancy Cosive has hired former Deloitte cyber security practice leader Prescott Pym as principal security consultant.
Pym will be based in Canberra for the role and will be responsible for growing the firm’s professional services client base and driving its go-to-market strategy for its software-as-a-service (SaaS) products, including CloudMISP, MalwareZoo and Antifraud.
He comes into the potion with more than 25 years of experience with running security operations centres (SOC) on a global scale. Prior to Cosive, Pym was Deloitte’s principal consultant for cyber risk, technology and transformation.
He also has worked at Verizon in Australia for 14 years, where Cosive claims he played a pivotal part in setting up SOCs in Australia, India, Japan, Germany, Switzerland and the USA, as well as the Australian Bureau of Statistics for seven years. Pym has known Cosive’s senior management team for “many years”.
“The cyber industry across Australia is quite interlinked, so you don’t have to go far to find where Cosive has had an impact,” he said.
“I’m really passionate about how communities help people and organisations grow and create something special that can’t be done in isolation. I’ve seen Cosive work actively in this space, sharing knowledge at conferences, demonstrating best practices in their work and supporting broader communities for the greater good.”
Cosive managing director Terry MacDonald added that Pym is expected to bring “tremendous value” to the consultancy’s customers and support its ongoing regional growth.
“With his extensive background in cyber threat intelligence and security operations, Prescott brings a wealth of expertise to guide our strategic initiatives,” he said.
Pym’s appointment as principal consultant comes less than a month after former Cosive principal consultant Shanna Daly was hired by Adelaide-headquartered managed IT and cyber security provider OpSys Australia as its first chief information security officer back in late October.
