Cloudflare has acquired Kivera, a local cloud security, data protection, and compliance company, to strengthen its secure access service edge (SASE) portfolio.
Through the rest of 2024 and into early 2025, Kivera’s team will focus on integrating their preventive inline cloud app controls directly into Cloudflare One, according to a blog post from the vendor.
As part of the acquisition, the Kivera product will no longer be a standalone add-on but will become a core component of Cloudflare One, enhancing the SASE offering with integrated inline cloud app controls.
‘We are looking for early access testers and teams to provide feedback on what they would like to see,’ wrote Cloudflare.”
In a LinkedIn post, Kivera CEO, Joe Lea, said “We’ve made incredible progress with amazing support from our customers, partners, investors Tripp Callan Round13 Capital Jonathan Spinks.
I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to work with one of the most amazing teams in the world”.
The acquisition comes a year after Kivera raised $5.1 million in seed funding to invest in new talent and expand its growth ambitions overseas in August 2023.
Founded in Sydney in 2019 by Neil Brown and Vernon Jefferson, Kivera’s platform provides capabilities in cloud protection, data security, and simplified compliance, enabling cloud agility and granular visibility.
Currently both co-founders’ LinkedIn profiles show they are now with Cloudflare, with Brown serving as principal product manager and Jefferson as senior engineering manager.
