Cisco has promoted former Palo Alto Networks VP Sean Duca from cyber security to the vendor’s entire portfolio for customer experience (CX) across Asia Pacific, Japan and China (APJC).

Duca announced the role change on LinkedIn, where he announced he would be expanding his skillset from cyber security in the position of chief information security officer and security practice leader for CX across the APJC region to chief technology officer for CX.

In his new role, Duca leads the chief technology office in CX, where he claims to drive innovation from the initial customer engagement to adoption and lifecycle management.

He had previously moved over to Cisco in June after taking a six-month break “to recharge and focus on my health” following his departure as Palo Alto Networks’ vice president and regional chief security officer for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ).

Since his departure, Palo Alto Networks told ARN that Sid Deshpande has stepped into the role of regional CSO for Asia Pacific and Japan. Deshpande has been with Palo Alto Networks since 2021, when he joined as its field CTO for APJ. Before this, he worked at Akamai Technologies for two years and Gartner for more than nine.

Cisco declined to comment on Duca’s new role.
