Accenture and Salesforce have partnered with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) to deliver an undergraduate Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2025 for students with leadership aspirations in industry, government and public sectors.
Both organisations, alongside ANZ and L’Oreal, will work with RMIT to co-design the course and help ensure students build industry experience, knowledge and analytic skills.
The Bachelor of Commerce has been designed as a specialised program for business students who want to develop their core understanding of the economy.
It also utilises RMIT’s teachings in finance management, information systems, marketing and digital economies.
RMIT deputy vice-chancellor of business and law and vice-president Colin Picker said the degree is focused on embedding a core understanding of economics and business.
“The business world is continually reshaped by digital disruption and future-thinking leaders capable of designing contemporary solutions are in high demand,” he said.
According to Tara Ridley, vice-president of APAC alliances and channels at Salesforce, the degree also incorporates enterprise AI and business analytics technology, along with leadership expertise
“We are helping shape the next generation of industry leaders ready to drive data-driven decision making and innovation,” she said.
Students studying commerce with RMIT will be able to explore the complexities of law, policy development, market dynamics and technological innovation.
With technology playing an important part in the business world, Accenture managing director for data Justin Stark added the degree equips graduates with the “knowledge of how technology can enable and accelerate value across various services and offerings”.
Launched to prospective students at RMIT’s Open Day 2024, the university has already seen strong interest in the undergraduate degree and will soon offer places to its first cohort of students for 2025.
