Proofpoint has hired former Imperva Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) vice president for channels Nelson Soon to lead its channels and alliances across the region.
Based in Singapore, Soon will oversee Proofpoint’s channel and alliance operations for APJ, which the cyber security vendor says underscores its “commitment to its channel business and investment in the growth of its partner ecosystem in the region”.
“Partners play a critical role as trusted advisors in helping customers define and implement their security strategies. My role is to help facilitate their contributions within the framework of human-centric offerings that best address the threats shaping the current cyber security landscape,” said Soon.
He comes into the role with over 20 years of experience at IT companies. In addition to his time at Imperva, he worked in channel-specific roles at Gigamon, Extreme Networks and Agilent Technologies.
Aside from this, Soon also worked as head of sales for Australia and New Zealand, ASEAN and Taiwan at Ixia.
Joe Sykora, SVP of worldwide channels and partner sales at Proofpoint, added that Soon’s career history will play an important role in strengthening the vendor’s presence in the region.
“As we have expanded in Asia Pacific and Japan, Proofpoint’s reputation as the undisputed leader in human-centric security has enabled us to attract great talent,” he said. “Nelson Soon’s strong experience and drive will be invaluable in delivering our vision to our key partners in the region, expanding our program in line with growing demand for our market-leading solutions.”
