>Logicalis Australia was tapped by Western Sydney University (WSU) to transition it to Microsoft Azure Public Cloud for agility, scalability and security of its critical workloads.
The need to move to Microsoft Azure Public Cloud came from the university recognising its aging data center required an update. >Facing the approaching end-of-life of its existing data centre and the need to migrate critical production workloads, the university looked to Microsoft Azure Public Cloud.
As a certified Azure expert managed service provider (MSP), Logicalis Australia conducted a comprehensive analysis of potential solutions and designed an Azure Landing Zone based on Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework. In all, the migration started in January of this year and ended in May.
According to WSU IT leader Karina Foley, the MSP developed a solution with planning, detailed analysis and a collaborative approach with key stakeholders at the university.
“One of the reasons for this was the way they adapted to meet our team where they were at, adopting some of our practices and processes to run the project in a way that was comfortable for everyone,” she said.
The scalable, modular architecture provided a foundation for hosting workloads in the cloud, ensuring that the university’s digital environment could evolve with future developments in Azure.
The MSP also developed a shared services model, enabling the university’s IT team to scale operations effectively while maintaining robust governance. The platform now supports a range of student services, including the Western mobile app.
Logicalis Australia’s CEO, Anthony Woodward, said its team’s commitment to excellence and innovation was pivotal in migrating WSU to Microsoft Azure seamlessly.
“This project showcases Logicalis Australia’s expertise in cloud solutions and reflects the business’s deep commitment to empowering educational institutions to achieve their strategic goals,” he said.
