Fortinet will equip Victoria Police veterans with essential cyber security skills through the Fortinet Training Institute’s Veterans Program.

This collaboration aims to identify and train suitable police veterans for employment in the growing field of cyber security while also helping to address the current cyber security skills gap by creating a more skilled, inclusive and diverse workforce.

Police veterans will gain access to Fortinet’s Network Security Expert NSE Certification program through the partnership, equipping them with cyber security skills.

The Fortinet NSE Certification program includes a range of self-paced and instructor-led courses, as well as practical, hands-on exercises. The certification program assesses specific levels of cyber security expertise, from foundational knowledge to advanced architecture.

Participants in the program will have access to various NSE courses, including Fortinet Networking Fundamentals, Fortinet Certified Fundamentals, Fortinet Certified Associate and Fortinet Certified Professional.

Police Veterans Victoria CEO David McGowan said the transition from active duty to civilian life can be challenging for veterans, often leading to feelings of uncertainty and a lack of purpose.

“By providing the opportunity for police veterans to train in cyber security, these individuals are empowered to develop new, in-demand skills that not only enhance their professional qualifications but also instill a renewed sense of purpose,” he said.
