Security and cloud services provider CyberCX has strengthened its New Zealand leadership team with Tom Khangura becoming director of cloud sales and Sven Ross executive director for managed security services.

Khangura joined CyberCX following its acquisition of Consegna in 2022 while Ross joined the organisation in 2019.

“With both the AWS public and commercial sector businesses poised for a New Zealand region launch in 2025, I’m excited to be stepping into a role that will help New Zealand organisations unlock the benefits of cloud computing such as enhanced security, scalable infrastructure, and access to AI and machine learning services,” Khangura said.

“New Zealand businesses can achieve greater agility, innovate faster, and respond more effectively to market demands. We’re focused on reimagining how IT drives business outcomes.”

The leadership promotions follow the launch of a new CyberCX office in Auckland at 131 Queen Street, marking the company’s largest workspace in New Zealand.

“Importantly, our Security Operations Centres (SOC) in Auckland and Wellington deliver services to our clients in NZ and form critical nodes in our federated network of nine SOCs globally,” Ross added.

Since launching in New Zealand in 2020, CyberCX has continued to grow and enhance its capability, service offerings and workforce with more than 200 cloud and cyber security professionals across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

CyberCX NZ CEO Tim Sewell said the arrival of hyperscale public cloud providers on NZ shores provided new opportunities with local data residency, improved application performance and greater environmental sustainability.

“Cloud transformation projects can help protect organisations and their customers from cyber threats, but it’s vital that cyber security is an integral part of these projects to ensure these benefits are realised,” Sewell said.

“CyberCX’s strength is our ability to combine region-leading cyber security capabilities with a depth of cloud experience to help customers get the right outcome with cloud migrations. Appointing Tom to the director of cloud sales role and bringing Sven to New Zealand helps us do just that.”
