Managed service provider efex has purchased Wyscom, a Canberra-based managed services firm with operations in New Zealand.

The acquisition will strengthen efex’s ability to provide support to its existing clients in Canberra and bolster its capabilities in cyber security.

Wyscom has 25 employees and almost 150 clients across Canberra, Queensland, Victoria and New Zealand.

It also has expertise in providing IT solutions to government agencies, education institutions and professional services supporting the public sector.

The acquisition aligns with efex’s strategy to target key verticals of professional services, education, healthcare, government, public sectors, mining and remote services, providing a comprehensive set of managed services to midmarket businesses.

Nick Sheehan, efex CEO, said the acquisition is a critical step in its expansion strategy.

“This move deepens our expertise in cyber security and aligns with our ongoing strategy of reaching 50 locations over the next two years, with further acquisitions in Perth and Sydney planned before Christmas,” he said.

“Our growth strategy remains focused on targeted acquisitions that expand our footprint and strengthen our service offerings across key industries.”

Wyscom will continue to operate in Canberra with its founders Lisa and Hayden Johnston remaining in leadership roles during a transition period.

Lisa Johnston said efex’s national reach provides Wyscom with an opportunity to further its own footprint.

This acquisition is part of efex’s broader expansion plan that has seen efex complete 15 acquisitions over the last decade.

In September, efex acquired WorldMark Corporate Consulting, a Geelong-based firm. At the time efex said the acquisition was important to the company’s broader strategy of growing organically and through targeted acquisitions.
