Cloudian and Lenovo have jointly announced the general availability of a new Cloudian HyperStore AI data lake platform.

The product combines Lenovo’s all-flash AMD EPYC CPU-based servers with Cloudian’s AI data lake software creates a solution that can handle demanding AI and analytics workloads.

Anna Christensen, head of marketing and channel for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), told ARN the platform will benefit any partners that understand the direction that AI transformation brings.

“While there aren’t any specific partner incentives to support this program, Cloudian will work closely with its partner network to support deal registration and create opportunities for partners with the platform,” she said.

For end users, the platform will benefit organisations that operate with large data and are currently planning to leverage AI transformation, gain greater performance, and ensure data sovereignty.

“We believe media, government and finance will be particularly interested,” she said. “Per a recent report from Lenovo, 69 per cent of A/NZ [Australia and New Zealand] CIOs believe AI transformation will require a hybrid approach with data being stored on the edge to assure security and performance.”

According to James Wright managing director APJ at Cloudian said there’s a big focus on the AI boom in Australia, New Zealand and across Asia Pacific.

“There’s a storage and infrastructure layer that companies and government agencies need to power the data-hungry workloads central to AI’s performance and functionality. What’s out there now simply won’t cut it,” he said.

Wright noted that trying to power the mobile applications used today with the simple mobile phones used 20 years ago wouldn’t work.

“It’s no different at the infrastructure level, particularly with AI in play,” he added.
