Oracle and Microsoft are offering their Oracle Database@Azure service to users in Australia, debuting it in the Microsoft Azure Australia East region.

According to Oracle, the solution delivers Oracle database services running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), collocated in Microsoft data centres.

As such, Azure customers can procure, deploy and use Oracle database services on OCI in the Azure portal and application programming interfaces (API).

This marks the sixth Azure region the service is available in, joining the likes of Canada Central, East US, France Central, Germany West Central and UK South.

“Expanding our collaboration with Oracle in Australia reinforces our shared commitment to delivering best-in-class solutions as well as our mutual dedication to helping local organizations streamline and advance the migration of workloads to the cloud,” said Sarah Carney, national chief technology officer for Microsoft Australia and New Zealand.

“Oracle Database@Azure will enable customers to use Oracle Database services running on OCI in Microsoft Azure data centres and benefit from the latest innovations in AI.”

Released during Oracle’s CloudWorld conference in Las Vegas, which ran from 9 to 12 September, a number of updates to the Database@Azure solution were also announced. This includes Oracle Database Zero Data Loss Autonomous Recovery Service, which can allegedly restore business critical data within seconds of an outage.

Oracle Database@Azure integration with Microsoft Sentinel was also announced to have entered into preview, which is designed to identify and stop cyberthreats across an enterprise via intelligent security analytics.

Additionally, OCI GoldenGate, a data mesh platform that uses replication to keep data available for real-time analysis, was also announced to be available soon as a managed service on Oracle Database@Azure. Full feature parity to OCI GoldenGate was also promised.
