Blackbird IT has acquired South Australian managed service provider (MSP) Calvert Technologies to bolster its position in the state.
Calvert Technologies was founded in 1995 by CEO Dean Calvert and has serviced over 1,200 clients throughout SA and the Northern Territory.
In a statement, Blackbird IT said Calvert Technologies’ entire team has moved over to its head office in Adelaide, with the latter’s clients expected to see no change in operations.
Additionally, the integration of Calvert Technologies “aligns with [Blackbird IT’s] vision of enhancing service capabilities and strengthening our position in South Australia.”
“By bringing together a diverse group of professionals, we enhance our ability to offer a broader range of expertise. Tapping into new talent helps us stay innovative and adaptable, driving our continued success,” said Blackbird IT director Richard Stafford.
Calvert Technologies will continue to operate as its own entity in the near term, with the longer term goal to roll it into the Blackbird IT brand.
On the acquisition, Calvert said he met Stafford “at the right time”.
“When considering this opportunity, which I refer to as my ‘legacy project’, a critical requirement was finding a good cultural fit for my team and clients. I feel confident in this partnership because our alignment and similarities in so many areas reassure me that I’ve made the right decision here,” Calvert said.
The deal was labelled as a “vital component of our broader strategic growth plan”, which is driven by Stafford and Blackbird IT director Ben Corbett.
It also marks the second acquisition for Blackbird IT in two years, with it previously acquiring Sydney-based MSP Autonomous IT in 2022. That acquisition, Blackbird IT claimed, enabled its expansion into the NSW market.
