Ingram Micro Australia has implemented Zebra Technologies’ intelligent cabinet to improve operations at its 42,000 square metre warehouse in Eastern Creek, NSW.
The distributor, which has a distribution agreement in place with Zebra, traditionally used the vendor’s solutions for inventory management, labelling, delivery signoffs and return handling in its other warehouses.
However, a spokesperson for Ingram Micro told ARN this particular warehouse didn’t have a technology solution implemented for operations before, with processes managed manually.
Zebra’s intelligent cabinet will now provide the distributor’s Eastern Creek warehouse team with real-time visibility and better tracking of devices that are returned to the intelligent cabinets at the end of each workday.
Ingram Micro director of operations Australia and New Zealand Aaron Kumar said the solution has “reduced the combined time spent by our front-line staff in searching for the tools they need to perform their daily tasks”.
Other Zebra products Ingram use in its warehouse includes the MC9300 ultra-rugged mobile touch computers for inventory management, ZD421 desktop printers for labelling, ZE500 print engines for inventory verification, L10 tablets for delivery sign-offs and ZT230 industrial printers and DS2278 scanners for return handling and other tasks.
