Numerous sustainability, green IT and renewable energy conferences are scheduled for September 2024, according to our Global Sustainability Conference Calendar.
The key question: Where should technology partners, chief sustainability officers (CSOs), climate tech professionals, green IT service providers, and ESG investors potentially focus their attention and travel budgets? Here are 20 (actually, make that 23) sustainability-related conferences and in-person events to note for September 2024. We’ve sorted them by date:
1. Amsterdam Immersive Impact Trip and Masterclass 2024 (September 5-6, Amsterdam): The gathering is designed for “CEOs and senior leaders ambitious about creating profits and a genuinely better future.”
2. LF Energy Summit 2024 (September 5-6, Brussels, Belgium): According to conference organizers, “This summit will gather the LF Energy community including electric utilities, technology vendors, global energy companies, researchers, and other industry stakeholders to learn about LF Energy and its projects, collaborate, and share best practices.”
3. Workiva Amplify 2024 (September 9-11, Denver, Colorado): The software conference is designed for accounting, finance, ESG and GRC professionals. Ahead of the conference, the company launched the Workiva Carbon software platform in June 2024. The launch leverages Sustain.Life — a $100 million acquisition from earlier in 2024.
4. RE+ 2024 (September 9-12, Anaheim, California): The renewable energy conference typically attracts about 40,000 clean energy professionals, 1,350 exhibitors, and 8,400 executives.
5. Diligent Elevate 2024 (September 9-11, Houston, Texas): The event, formerly known as the Modern Governance Summit, is an opportunity for Diligent users to gain insights into GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) trends.
6. Platform Global 2024 – the Digital Infrastructure and Data Center Investor Conference (September 10-12, Antibes, France): The annual event is designed for investors and leaders in the data center market — especially as it pertains to colocation, hyperscale, ESG, power generation and AIO capabilities.
7. Sustainability Live London 2024 (September 10-11, London, United Kingdom): The event is organized by BizClik and Sustainability Magazine.
8. Innovate4Cities Conference 2024 (September 10-12, Montreal, Canada): The event is designed for academic, government, civil society and industry experts who focus on cities, climate science and innovation.
9. OKA CON ’24 (September 10-12, Ada, Oklahoma): The event, according to conference organizers, “brings together experts, scholars, community leaders, and policymakers to discuss the latest advancements and challenges in water management and sustainability.”
10. International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) 2024 (September 11-12, Rome, Italy): The conference, organized for the European Center for Sustainable Development in collaboration with CIT University, will focus on economic sustainability, environmental sustainability and socio-cultural sustainability.

11. Workday Rising 2024 (September 16-19, Las Vegas): Workday is best known as a SaaS-based provider of HR software. But the company also offers ESG software modules.
12. Salesforce Dreamforce 2024 (September 17-19, San Francisco, California): Much of Salesforce Dreamforce focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) and SaaS applications. But take a closer look and you’ll likely find content involving Salesforce Net Zero Cloud and related sustainability topics.
13. Net Zero Conference 2024 (September 17-18, Anaheim, California): The event typically attracts roughly 1,500 attendees from more than 50 countries and roughly 45 states. The event is organized by Vertical Group.
14. APIdays London 2024 (September 18-19, London, United Kingdom): Apidays conferences feature a dedicated Green IO and Sustainability track. The track is led by Gael Duez of The Green IO Podcast.
15. Sustainability Summit 2024 (September 18-19, Hamburg, Germany): Conference organizers say the summit is “the new trade fair and conference for sustainability in business. The leading experts from mid-sized to large corporations, will meet with innovative providers of digital solutions for sustainability in business.”
16. Green IO Conference 2024 (London, United Kingdom): According to conference organizers: “Our agenda is packed with insightful topics about digital sustainability and to foster a deeper understanding of the role of digital responsibility in technology’s impact and the feasibility of running a sustainable digital business. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the conversation shaping the future of green software.”
17. Climate Week NYC 2024 (September 22-27, New York, New York): The conference and event series, hosted by the Climate Group, is expected to run at least through September 27.
18. IATA World Sustainability Symposium (WSS) 2024 (September 24-25, Miami, Florida): The event is designed for industry leaders and governments to debate and discuss the key enablers for aviation’s successful decarbonization.
19. ISPA Sustainability Conference 2024 (September 25-26, Charlotte, North Carolina): The event, organized by the International Sleep Products Association, attracted roughly 200 attendees in 2023.
20. Petrochemical Sustainability Conference (PSC) 2024 (September 26-27, Malaysia): The two-day conference will be held alongside Oil & Gas Asia, the largest B2B oil and gas event in Southeast Asia, according to conference organizers.
21. Transportation and Climate Change Conference (TACCC) 2024 (September 26, United Arab Emirates): According to the organizer, “The conference aims to update participants on progress being made in tackling climate change goals across the broad transportation industry, including shipping, ports, logistics, aviation, rail, road and intermodal.”
22. CSE Sustainability and ESG Leadership Summit 2024 (September 30, New York City).
23. E-Scrape Conference 2024 (September 30-October 2, Orlando, Florida): The event typically attracts 1,000 attendees 100 companies focused on electronics sustainability. Key topics of discussion will include sustainable recycling practices and mitigating Scope 3 emissions.
