Datacom has signed an agreement with Microsoft to become a Strategic Refresh Initiative (SRI) partner for Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) to push for more of an uptake of the vendor’s Windows 11 operating system.
Datacom claims it is one of 21 partners globally, as well as one of only a few in the Southern Hemisphere, to be designated an SRI partner.
Under the partnership, Datacom will help businesses and government agencies shift to Windows 11 ahead of Windows 10’s end of support in October 2025.
After this point, devices running Windows 10 will not be provided with security updates or technical support.
“We want to help businesses migrate to Windows 11 well ahead of time,” said Datacom Australia acting managing director Mike Fuller.
“Organisations face a lot of competing priorities for resource and budgets and it would be easy to put this on the agenda for ‘next year’ but we’re encouraging businesses to start the process now so they have time to make considered decisions, identify any hardware upgrades they need to support the new OS and create a realistic timelines for procurement and implementation.
“Our team can help with that entire process.”
Datacom also has a dedicated Intelligent Devices practice that can assess an organisation’s device fleet and make recommendations on software and hardware, as well as providing support on circularity requirements.
Additionally, the IT services provider can work with organisations looking to upgrade hardware to implement more sustainable IT asset management through ensuring asset visibility and managing devices across their lifecycle in an effort to reduce waste.
