Stela Solar, the former general manager of the National Artificial Intelligence Centre, has stepped into several roles at Accenture, including health and public service lead, generative artificial intelligence (AI) market lead and AI Transition lead.

Solar’s LinkedIn biography states that her team at Accenture A/NZ will lead organisations through artificial intelligence transformation and digital innovation.

During her distinguished 20-year career, Solar drove model transformations that enabled organisations to capture opportunities through emerging technologies including cloud, IoT, and AI.

Over the past two years she was general manager, National Artificial Intelligence Centre, leaving in November. At the time Solar stated she gave it her all and was proud of that.

“Many of our efforts converted into impact which reached millions of Australians and thousands of businesses,” she stated.

During EDGE 2024, Solar explored the growing vibrancy to the local artificial industry, despite common perception that Australia is lagging in AI adoption.

According to Solar, many individuals within organisations are exploring generative AI without formal acknowledgment from their employers.

“Data from reports by Microsoft, Deloitte and Slack indicates that Australian knowledge workers are increasingly utilising generative AI in their workplaces, with Microsoft reporting an 84 per cent usage rate,” she said.

According to Solar, “each of the reports finds Australian employees at the top of the Generative AI adoption curve. This reflects the grassroots, bottoms up a transformation that Generative AI has catalysed within organisations and a strong desire for individuals to engage with generative AI to enhance their work processes.”
