IBM has launched a remote monitoring and management (RMM) software platform to help customers maintain and optimize their renewable energy assets.

The platform, called IBM Maximo Renewables, allows customers to:

  • Track and monitor renewable asset performance;
  • plan and manage maintenance work; and
  • identify root-causes for efficiency losses and recommend actions.

The software supports wind farms, solar power plants, battery storage systems, and more, the technology company said.

The company did not mention whether the software is multi-tenant — a feature that would allow MSPs (managed IT service providers) to manage multiple customers from a single dashboard.

Meanwhile, traditional RMM software platforms for MSPs — from companies such as ConnectWise, Kaseya, NinjaOne and N-able — have yet to announce sustainability-focused software initiatives.

IBM’s software portfolio includes additional sustainability-focused management tools. Examples include:

The company does not disclose revenue figures for its overall sustainability software portfolio. Related: IBM sustainability strategy explained.
