1. IoT and Energy Management: Keep an eye on MachineQ, a Comcast Company that develops an IoT-based power monitoring platform. The software assists enterprises in “monitoring and managing their energy consumption.”
2. Carbon Accounting Software: Seneca ESG has updated its software suite to help European businesses navigate the Double Materiality Assessment (DMA), and meet the new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) standards. In addition, Seneca ESG promotes a carbon accounting tool to support corporate carbon disclosure efforts, the company said.
3. Data Center Partnership: Accelsius and iM Data Centers are partnering to “deliver sustainable, scalable data center cooling solutions. The effort innitially targets iM’s Miami data center, set to open in Q1 2025.
4. Data Center Expansion: Equinix plans to open a sixth data center in Singapore. The data center, backed by a US$260 million investment, will have a “sustainability-driven design.” Indeed, the data center will leverage:
- Advanced liquid cooling technology, which allows the transfer of heat more efficiently than air, and often necessary for high-density hardware, like GPUs;
- renewable power purchase agreement (PPA) in Singapore with Sembcorp Industries, which supports the addition of new renewable energy capacity to the local electric grid;
- lower carbon building materials;
- energy-efficient water-cooled chiller and cooling towers; and
- rainwater harvesting capabilities.
5. Partnership – Renewable Energy: Eleven organizations in Massachusetts — including universities, healthcare systems and nonprofit organizations — are partnering to leverage renewable energy. The effort, known as the Consortium for Climate Solutions, will invest in wind and solar power. Harvard University, Mass General Brigham (MGB), and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) anchor the consortium.
6. EV Charger Network: Blink Charging is deploying 53 EV charging stations at 12 Tower Management Service locations throughout New Jersey.
1. Venture Capital: Plug and Play Sustainability has raised a venture capital fund for startups that address industrial decarbonization, the circular economy, energy transition, and water resilience.
2. Startup Funding – E-Waste Reduction: DEScycle, a startup that recycles metal from electronic waste, has raised €12.2 million (US$12.8 million) in Series A funding. BGF and Vorwerk Ventures led the round. Cisco Investments, Kadmos Capital, and Nesta also participated as new investors.
3. Startup Funding – AgriTech Supply Chain Management: TRACT, a SaaS platform that enhances agricultural supply chain sustainability, has raised $11.2 million in new funding.
