Softsource vBridge has bought managed computer fleet provider The Laptop Company to create one of New Zealand’s largest privately-owned IT groups.

Softsource CEO Pablo Garcia-Curtis described the buyout as a significant milestone, allowing the group to offer a broader range of solutions while maintaining “exceptional” service for customers.

The Laptop Company (TLC) was established in 1986 and previously owned by David Pettengell and supplies managed computer fleets to the corporate and financial sectors, as well as to the public sector through the all-of-government IT hardware contract.

“With their unrivalled reputation for customer service, prominence in the Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch enterprise spaces, and a support network that covers the country for all major brands, we could not hope for a better fit for our existing team and culture,” Garcia Curtis said.

TLC would continue to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary under the leadership of long-term CEO Mark Mayo and CFO Andrew Robinson.

“Our shared values and successful past collaborations made this a natural fit,” Mayo said. “We are excited at the prospect of being able to bring more to the table for our customers.”

The acquisition also delivered more value, capacity, and capability, he said.
